The lack of reliable rainfall during the \u2018dry season\u2019 in sub-Saharan Africa limits the amount of food that can be grown. The solution to this problem is irrigation \u2013 both on a large scale with motorised pumps, and on a small scale with manual pumps.<\/p>\n
